Leadership at Our Counseling Center

Kevin Callahan, MBA

Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Families Together Counseling Services, Kevin Callahan, began his career in the Human Services field in 1985 while working as a Sous Chef at a local restaurant.  Kevin was looking for a part time job to supplement his income and save some money.   Kevin was able to obtain a part time position at a school for developmentally disabled, dually diagnosed and emotionally disturbed children as a Recreation Aide.   The children ranged in age from 11 to 21 years old and presented many different challenges which was very different from what he was used to.  After a few months as a recreation aide, Kevin was offered the position as Recreation Director and quickly realized that Human Services and Child Welfare presented itself as a difficult challenge and an opportunity for a new and exciting career path.  Kevin spent the next 30 years focusing on gaining knowledge in the field and obtaining education and training to support his experience and vocational direction.  Kevin received an Associates Degree in Human Services and Psychology, a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Psychology with a Human Services concentration and finally a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.  During Kevin’s 30 year run in the Human Services field, he has served as a Program Director working with many State, local and Federal agencies creating multiple opportunities for individuals with disabilities as well as those in need of child welfare services through grants and contracts.  Kevin has provided support to human services staff in various managerial roles and has worked with a diverse population of children and individuals in the Human Services Realm.  Kevin has focused on those individuals with developmental disabilites, physical and visual limitations, those experiencing economic and housing issues, as well as those individuals and families struggling with mental illness and the debilitating effects that cause individuals to need assistance.  In addition Kevin is a licensed Emergency Medical Technician, an Outdoor Emergency Care Technician and Instructor/Evaluator and  is trained in water rescue, wilderness search and rescue and is a member of certified local and national EMS agencies providing medical services in the community.
